Note that this also changes the types of the registers for the "positively packed (>1)" cases. As the registers truly are unsigned chars, this is surely the Right Thing, but it is a semantic change. (Many mobile targeted SoC doesn't have IDE bus) This driver support mflash IO mode. Followings are brief descriptions about IO mode. 1. IO mode based on ATA protocol and uses some custom command.
