* ppc4xx: Move ppc4xx headers to powerpc include directoryStefan Roese2010-09-23-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | This patch moves some ppc4xx related headers from the common include directory (include/) to the powerpc specific one (arch/powerpc/include/asm/). This way to common include directory is not so cluttered with files. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk2010-07-04-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... * Move arch/ppc to arch/powerpcStefan Roese2010-04-21-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | As discussed on the list, move "arch/ppc" to "arch/powerpc" to better match the Linux directory structure. Please note that this patch also changes the "ppc" target in MAKEALL to "powerpc" to match this new infrastructure. But "ppc" is kept as an alias for now, to not break compatibility with scripts using this name. * Replace "#include <asm-$ARCH/$FILE>" with "#include <asm/$FILE>"Peter Tyser2010-04-13-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | The appropriate include/asm-$ARCH directory should already by symlinked to include/asm so using the whole "asm-$ARCH" path is unnecessary. This change should also allow us to move the include/asm-$ARCH directories into their appropriate lib/$ARCH/ directories. Signed-off-by: Peter Tyser <ptyser@xes-inc.com>
* i2c, ppc4xx: fix compiling KAREF and METROBOX boards.Heiko Schocher2009-12-22-50/+53
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | commit eb5eb2b0f744f0cba405160c5d01335c40f09acf ppc4xx: Cleanup PPC4xx I2C infrastructure This patch cleans up the PPC4xx I2C intrastructure: - Use C struct to describe the I2C registers instead of defines - Coding style cleanup (braces, whitespace, comments, line length) - Extract common code from i2c_read() and i2c_write() - Remove unneeded IIC defines from ppc405.h & ppc440.h breaks comiling for the KAREF and METROBOX boards. This patch fixes this issue. Signed-off-by: Heiko Schocher <hs@denx.de> Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc4xx: Consolidate pci_pre_init() functionStefan Roese2009-11-19-32/+0
| | | | | | | | | This patch removes the duplicted implementations of the pci_pre_init() function by introducing a weak default function for it. This weak default has a different implementation for some PPC variants. It can be overridden by a board specific version. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc4xx: Consolidate pci_target_init() functionStefan Roese2009-11-19-40/+0
| | | | | | | | | | This patch removes the duplicted implementations of the pci_target_init() function by introducing a weak default function for it. This weak default has a different implementation for 440EP(x)/GR(x) PPC's. It can be overridden by a board specific version (e.g. PMC440, korat). * ppc4xx: Remove duplicated is_pci_host() functionsStefan Roese2009-11-09-13/+0
| | | | | | | | | This patch introduces a weak default function for is_pci_host(), returning 1. This is the default behaviour, since most boards only implement PCI host functionality. This weak default can be overridden by a board specific version if needed. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc_4xx: Apply new HW register namesNiklaus Giger2009-10-07-12/+12

* ppc4xx: Convert PPC4xx SDRAM defines from lower case to upper caseStefan Roese2009-09-28-12/+12
| | | | | | | | | The latest PPC4xx register cleanup patch missed some SDRAM defines. This patch now changes lower case UIC defines to upper case. Also some names are changed to match the naming in the IBM/AMCC users manuals (e.g. mem_mcopt1 -> SDRAM0_CFG). Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* ppc4xx: Big cleanup of PPC4xx definesStefan Roese2009-09-11-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch cleans up multiple issues of the 4xx register (mostly DCR, SDR, CPR, etc) definitions: - Change lower case defines to upper case (plb4_acr -> PLB4_ACR) - Change the defines to better match the names from the user's manuals (e.g. cprpllc -> CPR0_PLLC) - Removal of some unused defines Please test this patch intensive on your PPC4xx platform. Even though I tried not to break anything and tested successfully on multiple 4xx AMCC platforms, testing on custom platforms is recommended. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* General help message cleanupWolfgang Denk2009-06-12-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Many of the help messages were not really helpful; for example, many commands that take no arguments would not print a correct synopsis line, but "No additional help available." which is not exactly wrong, but not helpful either. Commit ``Make "usage" messages more helpful.'' changed this partially. But it also became clear that lots of "Usage" and "Help" messages (fields "usage" and "help" in struct cmd_tbl_s respective) were actually redundant. This patch cleans this up - for example: Before: => help dtt dtt - Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt - Read temperature from digital thermometer and thermostat. After: => help dtt dtt - Read temperature from Digital Thermometer and Thermostat Usage: dtt Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
* boards: move board_get_enetaddr() into board-specific initMike Frysinger2009-03-20-3/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | The environment is the canonical storage location of the mac address, so we're killing off the global data location and moving everything to querying the env directly. Rather than have the common ppc code have board-specific hooks, move the board_get_enetaddr() function into the board-specific init functions. * Command usage cleanupPeter Tyser2009-01-28-1/+1
| | | | | | | | Remove command name from all command "usage" fields and update common/command.c to display "name - usage" instead of just "usage". Also remove newlines from command usage fields. Signed-off-by: Peter Tyser <ptyser@xes-inc.com>

* Change initdram() return type to phys_size_tBecky Bruce2008-06-12-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch changes the return type of initdram() from long int to phys_size_t. This is required for a couple of reasons: long int limits the amount of dram to 2GB, and u-boot in general is moving over to phys_size_t to represent the size of physical memory. phys_size_t is defined as an unsigned long on almost all current platforms. This patch *only* changes the return type of the initdram function (in include/common.h, as well as in each board's implementation of initdram). It does not actually modify the code inside the function on any of the platforms; platforms which wish to support more than 2GB of DRAM will need to modify their initdram() function code. Build tested with MAKEALL for ppc, arm, mips, mips-el. Booted on powerpc MPC8641HPCN. Signed-off-by: Becky Bruce <becky.bruce@freescale.com>
* ppc4xx: Add pci_pre_init() for 405 boardsStefan Roese2007-06-25-2/+2
| | | | | | | | This patch removes the CFG_PCI_PRE_INIT option completely, since it's not needed anymore with the patch from Matthias Fuchs with the "weak" pci_pre_init() implementation. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
* [PATCH] PPC4xx: Add support for multiple I2C bussesStefan Roese2007-02-20-11/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This patch adds support for multiple I2C busses on the PPC4xx platforms. Define CONFIG_I2C_MULTI_BUS in the board config file to make use of this feature. It also merges the 405 and 440 i2c header files into one common file 4xx_i2c.h. Also the 4xx i2c reset procedure is reworked since I experienced some problems with the first access on the 440SPe Katmai board. Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de>
