* arm, keymile: remove unneeded codeHolger Brunck2011-04-11-7/+0
| | | | | | | | On first HW versions the BOCO FPGA was behind a MUX device. These HW versions are not supported anymore. And therefore this code can be removed, it is already unused. Signed-off-by: Holger Brunck <holger.brunck@keymile.com>
* Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier2010-11-17-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>

| * kirkwood: get rid of config.mk filesPrafulla Wadaskar2010-10-28-28/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | After moving the definition of CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE to the respective board config files, all Marvell kirkwood board have just a single and common entry in their config.mk files: KWD_CONFIG = $(SRCTREE)/board/$(BOARDDIR)/kwbimage.cfg Replace the only reference to KWD_CONFIG in the top level Makefile by an equivalent setting, and remove all kirkwood config.mk files. * | Drop support for CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOCWolfgang Denk2010-10-29-15/+0
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When this define was introduced, the idea was to provide a soft migration path for ARM boards to get adapted to the new relocation support. However, other recent changes led to a different implementation (ELF relocation), where this no longer works. By now CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC does not only not help any more, but it actually hurts because it obfuscates the actual code by sprinkling it with lots of dead and non-working debris. So let's make a clean cut and drop CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Tested-by: Heiko Schocher <hs@denx.de> Tested-by: Reinhard Meyer <u-boot@emk-elektronik.de>
* Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk2010-10-18-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. * ARM: implement relocation for ARM926Heiko Schocher2010-09-19-0/+24
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Change the implementation for arm926 to relocate the code to an arbitrary address in RAM. Adapt the TX25 (i.MX25), magnesium board to test the changes. On the tx25 board TEXT_BASE is set to the final relocation address to prevent one more copying of u-boot code when relocating. * cmd_usage(): simplify return code handlingWolfgang Denk2010-07-24-6/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Lots of code use this construct: cmd_usage(cmdtp); return 1; Change cmd_usage() let it return 1 - then we can replace all these ocurrances by return cmd_usage(cmdtp); This fixes a few places with incorrect return code handling, too. * Make sure that argv[] argument pointers are not modified.Wolfgang Denk2010-07-04-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The hush shell dynamically allocates (and re-allocates) memory for the argument strings in the "char *argv[]" argument vector passed to commands. Any code that modifies these pointers will cause serious corruption of the malloc data structures and crash U-Boot, so make sure the compiler can check that no such modifications are being done by changing the code into "char * const argv[]". This modification is the result of debugging a strange crash caused after adding a new command, which used the following argument processing code which has been working perfectly fine in all Unix systems since version 6 - but not so in U-Boot: int main (int argc, char **argv) { while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { /* ====> */ while (*++*argv) { switch (**argv) { case 'd': debug++; break; ... default: usage (); } } } ... } The line marked "====>" will corrupt the malloc data structures and usually cause U-Boot to crash when the next command gets executed by the shell. With the modification, the compiler will prevent this with an error: increment of read-only location '*argv' N.B.: The code above can be trivially rewritten like this: while (--argc > 0 && **++argv == '-') { char *arg = *argv; while (*++arg) { switch (*arg) { ... * arm: add support for the suen3 board from keymileHeiko Schocher2010-03-07-0/+579
Add support for the ARM part of the mgcoge2, named suen3. This board is based on the Marvell Kirkwood (88F6281) SoC. As there come more board variants, common config options are collected in include/configs/km_arm.h. Also, this board use common code for all keymile boards, which is stored in board/keymile/common/common.c Signed-off-by: Holger Brunck <holger.brunck@keymile.com> Signed-off-by: Stefan Roese <sr@denx.de> Signed-off-by: Heiko Schocher <hs@denx.de>
