| * mx31: provide readable WEIM CS accessorHelmut Raiger2011-10-27-9/+32
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | setup_weimcs() and some macros are added to support the setup for i.MX31 WEIM chip selects. As a compromise between verbosity and readability an ASCII-art'ish bit comment is used instead of bitfields. All i.MX31 boards have been patched to use this approach using a helper program to verify the changes. Signed-off-by: Helmut Raiger <helmut.raiger@hale.at> Acked-by: Stefano Babic <sbabic@denx.de>
* | cosmetic: s/BOARD_LATE_INIT/CONFIG_BOARD_LATE_INITHelmut Raiger2011-10-27-1/+1
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | This renames BOARD_LATE_INIT to CONFIG_BOARD_LATE_INIT. Along the way it removes some leftover #define BOARD_LATE_INIT 1 and adds some basic documentation for board specific callbacks in README. * punt unused clean/distclean targetsMike Frysinger2011-10-15-6/+0
| | | | | | | | | | The top level Makefile does not do any recursion into subdirs when cleaning, so these clean/distclean targets in random arch/board dirs never get used. Punt them all. MAKEALL didn't report any errors related to this that I could see. Signed-off-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>
* Remove volatile qualifier in get_ram_size() callsAlbert ARIBAUD2011-07-17-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | Checkpatch.pl complains about the volatile qualifier in calls to get_ram_size(). Remove this qualifier in the prototype and in the calls where it is useless, and leave it only in the function body where it is needed. Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>

* IMX: MX31: Cleanup include files and drop nasty #ifdef in driversStefano Babic2011-04-27-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | As exception among the i.MX processors, the i.MX31 has headers without general names (mx31-regs.h, mx31.h instead of imx-regs.h and clock.h). This requires several nasty #ifdef in the drivers to include the correct header. The patch cleans up the driver and renames the header files as for the other i.MX processors. * Switch from archive libraries to partial linkingSebastien Carlier2010-11-17-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Before this commit, weak symbols were not overridden by non-weak symbols found in archive libraries when linking with recent versions of binutils. As stated in the System V ABI, "the link editor does not extract archive members to resolve undefined weak symbols". This commit changes all Makefiles to use partial linking (ld -r) instead of creating library archives, which forces all symbols to participate in linking, allowing non-weak symbols to override weak symbols as intended. This approach is also used by Linux, from which the gmake function cmd_link_o_target (defined in config.mk and used in all Makefiles) is inspired. The name of each former library archive is preserved except for extensions which change from ".a" to ".o". This commit updates references accordingly where needed, in particular in some linker scripts. This commit reveals board configurations that exclude some features but include source files that depend these disabled features in the build, resulting in undefined symbols. Known such cases include: - disabling CMD_NET but not CMD_NFS; - enabling CONFIG_OF_LIBFDT but not CONFIG_QE. Signed-off-by: Sebastien Carlier <sebastien.carlier@gmail.com>
* Rename TEXT_BASE into CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASEWolfgang Denk2010-10-18-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | The change is currently needed to be able to remove the board configuration scripting from the top level Makefile and replace it by a simple, table driven script. Moving this configuration setting into the "CONFIG_*" name space is also desirable because it is needed if we ever should move forward to a Kconfig driven configuration system. * Convert SMC911X Ethernet driver to CONFIG_NET_MULTI APIBen Warren2009-07-22-0/+10
| | | | | | | | | | | | All in-tree boards that use this controller have CONFIG_NET_MULTI added Also: - changed CONFIG_DRIVER_SMC911X* to CONFIG_SMC911X* - cleaned up line lengths - modified all boards that override weak function in this driver - added Signed-off-by: Ben Warren <biggerbadderben@gmail.com> Tested-by: Mike Frysinger <vapier@gentoo.org>

* Fix all linker script to handle all rodata sectionsTrent Piepho2009-03-20-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | A recent gcc added a new unaligned rodata section called '.rodata.str1.1', which needs to be added the the linker script. Instead of just adding this one section, we use a wildcard ".rodata*" to get all rodata linker section gcc has now and might add in the future. However, '*(.rodata*)' by itself will result in sub-optimal section ordering. The sections will be sorted by object file, which causes extra padding between the unaligned rodata.str.1.1 of one object file and the aligned rodata of the next object file. This is easy to fix by using the SORT_BY_ALIGNMENT command. This patch has not be tested one most of the boards modified. Some boards have a linker script that looks something like this: *(.text) . = ALIGN(16); *(.rodata) *(.rodata.str1.4) *(.eh_frame) I change this to: *(.text) . = ALIGN(16); *(.eh_frame) *(SORT_BY_ALIGNMENT(SORT_BY_NAME(.rodata*))) This means the start of rodata will no longer be 16 bytes aligned. However, the boundary between text and rodata/eh_frame is still aligned to 16 bytes, which is what I think the real purpose of the ALIGN call is. Signed-off-by: Trent Piepho <xyzzy@speakeasy.org>
* ARM: add an "eet" variant of the imx31_phycore boardGuennadi Liakhovetski2009-02-24-0/+57
| | | | | | | | | | The "eet" variant of the imx31_phycore board has an OLED display, using a s6e63d6 display controller on the first SPI interface, using GPIO57 as a chip-select for it. With this configuration you can display 256 colour BMP images in 16-bit RGB (RGB565) LCD mode. * Align end of bss by 4 bytesSelvamuthukumar2008-11-18-1/+1

* Big white-space cleanup.Wolfgang Denk2008-05-21-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | This commit gets rid of a huge amount of silly white-space issues. Especially, all sequences of SPACEs followed by TAB characters get removed (unless they appear in print statements). Also remove all embedded "vim:" and "vi:" statements which hide indentation problems. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de>
