* x86: Configure VESA parameters before loading Linux kernelBin Meng2015-07-14-0/+2
| | | | | | | | | Store VESA parameters to Linux setup header so that vesafb driver in the kernel could work. Signed-off-by: Bin Meng <bmeng.cn@gmail.com> Acked-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Tested-by: Jian Luo <jian.luo4@boschrexroth.de>
* x86: Install a default e820 table in the __weak install_e820_map()Bin Meng2015-04-29-7/+22
| | | | | | | | Create a default e820 table with 3 entries which is enough to boot a Linux kernel. Signed-off-by: Bin Meng <bmeng.cn@gmail.com> Acked-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Correct a few progress message nitsSimon Glass2014-10-28-2/+2
| | | | | | | We should use puts() instead of printf() where possible. Also clarify the setup.bin message. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Move kernel boot function to arch/x86/lib/bootm.cSimon Glass2014-10-28-35/+8
| | | | | | | | The boot_zimage() function is badly named it can also boot a raw kernel. Rename it, and try to avoid pointers for memory addresses as it involves lots of casting. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* dm: x86: Remove ebp assembler warning in zimage.cSimon Glass2014-10-23-1/+0
| | | | | | | This code generates warnings with recent gcc versions. We really don't need the clobber specification, so just drop it. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Allow cmdline setup in setup_zimage() to be optionalSimon Glass2014-10-22-9/+12
| | | | | | | If we are passing this using the device tree then we may not want to set this up here. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Rewrite bootm.c to make it similar to ARMSimon Glass2014-10-22-18/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The x86 bootm code is quite special, and geared to zimage. Adjust it to support device tree and make it more like the ARM code, with separate bootm stages and functions for each stage. Create a function announce_and_cleanup() to handle printing the "Starting kernel ..." message and put it in bootm so it is in one place and can be used by any loading code. Also move the board_final_cleanup() function into bootm. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

* x86: Rationalise kernel booting logic and bootstageSimon Glass2013-05-13-4/+7
| | | | | | | | | | The 'Starting linux' message appears twice in the code, but both call through the same place. Unify these and add calls to bootstage to mark the occasion. * x86: Remove unused real mode codeSimon Glass2013-02-14-23/+0
| | | | | | | This code is pretty old and we want to support only 32-bit systems now. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Acked-by: Graeme Russ <graeme.russ@gmail.com>
* x86: Fix indirect jmp warning in zimage.cSimon Glass2012-12-06-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes the following warning: zimage.c:312: Warning: indirect jmp without `*' Also fixed these warnings to keep checkpatch quiet: warning: arch/x86/lib/zimage.c,311: unnecessary whitespace before a quoted newline warning: arch/x86/lib/zimage.c,312: unnecessary whitespace before a quoted newline warning: arch/x86/lib/zimage.c,313: unnecessary whitespace before a quoted newline Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Provide a function to clean up just before booting a zimageStefan Reinauer2012-12-06-0/+11
| | | | | | | | This function can be used by boards which want to do some clean-up before booting a zImage. Signed-off-by: Stefan Reinauer <reinauer@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Add a CBMEM timestamp generated right before the kernel startup.Vadim Bendebury2012-12-06-0/+6
| | | | | | | | | | To maintain the initialization state of the timestamp facility, thesq pointer to the CBMEM section containing the timestamp table should be kept in the .data section (so that it is maintained across u-boot relocation). * x86: Allow compiling out realmode/bios codeGabe Black2012-11-30-2/+2
| | | | | | | | We don't want this for coreboot, so provide a way of compiling it out. Signed-off-by: Gabe Black <gabeblack@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Stefan Reinauer <reinauer@chromium.org> Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Move setup_pcat_compatibility() out of board.cGraeme Russ2012-01-04-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | This function simply does not belong in board.c -- Changes for v2: - Added commit message
* x86: Add support for specifying an initrd with the zboot commandGabe Black2011-12-19-4/+19
| | | | | | | | | | | This change finishes plumbing the initrd support built into the zboot mechanism out to the command interface. It also fixes a bug in the command declaration where the kernel size could be passed as an optional second parameter but not enough arguments were allowed. Signed-off-by: Gabe Black <gabeblack@chromium.org>
* x86: Refactor the zboot innards so they can be reused with a vboot imageGabe Black2011-12-19-80/+103
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If vboot successfully verifies a kernel, it will leave it in place and basically ready to boot. The zeropage table which is part of the x86 boot protocol is at the end of the kernel, though, instead of the beginning, and because the image is already in place there's no need to copy it around. This change refactors the code which implements the zboot command so that the configuration of the zeropage table and loading the pieces of the kernel into memory are done separately. Also, because the command line goes before the zeropage table in vboot which is somewhat incompatible with the normal protocol, where to put the command line is a now a parameter instead of being hard coded. * x86: Add support for booting Linux using the 32 bit boot protocolGabe Black2011-12-19-13/+51
| | | | | | | | | This change conditionally modifies the zboot command so that it can use the 32 bit boot protocol. This is necessary because the 16 bit realmode entry point assumes that it can call BIOS services which neither coreboot nor u-boot provide. Signed-off-by: Gabe Black <gabeblack@chromium.org>
* x86: Clean up the x86 zimage code in preparation to extend itGabe Black2011-12-19-37/+45
| | | | | | | | This change cleans up some formatting issues in the zimage handling code, and converts it from using offsets added to a base pointer to using the available structure definitions which were already being included. Signed-off-by: Gabe Black <gabeblack@chromium.org>

* Convert ISO-8859 files to UTF-8Albert ARIBAUD2011-08-04-1/+1
| | | | | | | | There was a mix of UTF-8 and ISO-8859 files in the U-Boot source tree, which could cause issues with the patchwork review system. This commit converts all ISO-8859 files to UTF-8. Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>
