* x86: Handle running as EFI payloadSimon Glass2015-08-05-0/+5
| | | | | | | | | When U-Boot runs as an EFI payload it needs to avoid setting up the CPU again. Also U-Boot currently does not handle interrupts for many devices, so run with interrupts disabled. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Bin Meng <bmeng.cn@gmail.com>
* x86: Add some missing global_data declarations in files that use gdSimon Glass2015-08-05-0/+2
| | | | | | | Some files use global_data but don't declare it. Fix this. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org> Reviewed-by: Bin Meng <bmeng.cn@gmail.com>
* x86: Correct a few progress message nitsSimon Glass2014-10-28-1/+1
| | | | | | | We should use puts() instead of printf() where possible. Also clarify the setup.bin message. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: bootm: Support booting a 64-bit raw kernelSimon Glass2014-10-28-2/+8
| | | | | | Detect an x86_64 kernel and boot it in 64-bit mode. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Move kernel boot function to arch/x86/lib/bootm.cSimon Glass2014-10-28-10/+38
| | | | | | | | The boot_zimage() function is badly named it can also boot a raw kernel. Rename it, and try to avoid pointers for memory addresses as it involves lots of casting. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* x86: Rewrite bootm.c to make it similar to ARMSimon Glass2014-10-22-35/+116
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The x86 bootm code is quite special, and geared to zimage. Adjust it to support device tree and make it more like the ARM code, with separate bootm stages and functions for each stage. Create a function announce_and_cleanup() to handle printing the "Starting kernel ..." message and put it in bootm so it is in one place and can be used by any loading code. Also move the board_final_cleanup() function into bootm. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

* blackfin: x86: bootm: Handle PREP stage of bootmSimon Glass2013-07-12-0/+2
| | | | | | | The OS function is now always called with the PREP stage. Adjust the remaining bootm OS functions to deal with this correctly. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>

* x86: Rationalise kernel booting logic and bootstageSimon Glass2013-05-13-8/+0
| | | | | | | | | | The 'Starting linux' message appears twice in the code, but both call through the same place. Unify these and add calls to bootstage to mark the occasion. * x86: Refactor the zboot innards so they can be reused with a vboot imageGabe Black2011-12-19-7/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | If vboot successfully verifies a kernel, it will leave it in place and basically ready to boot. The zeropage table which is part of the x86 boot protocol is at the end of the kernel, though, instead of the beginning, and because the image is already in place there's no need to copy it around. This change refactors the code which implements the zboot command so that the configuration of the zeropage table and loading the pieces of the kernel into memory are done separately. Also, because the command line goes before the zeropage table in vboot which is somewhat incompatible with the normal protocol, where to put the command line is a now a parameter instead of being hard coded. * x86: Add support for booting Linux using the 32 bit boot protocolGabe Black2011-12-19-2/+4
| | | | | | | | | This change conditionally modifies the zboot command so that it can use the 32 bit boot protocol. This is necessary because the 16 bit realmode entry point assumes that it can call BIOS services which neither coreboot nor u-boot provide. Signed-off-by: Gabe Black <gabeblack@chromium.org>
