* generic-board: select SYS_GENERIC_BOARD for some architecturesMasahiro Yamada2015-03-28-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | We have done with the generic board conversion for all the boards of ARC, Blackfin, M68000, MicroBlaze, MIPS, NIOS2, Sandbox, X86. Let's select SYS_GENERIC_BOARD for those architectures, so we can tell which architecture has finished the conversion at a glance. * microblaze: spl: Do not call mem_malloc_init and use early allocMichal Simek2015-02-09-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | This patch has some parts connected together: - Use _gd in bss section which is automatically cleared Location at SPL_MALLOC_END wasn't cleared at all - Use MALLOC_F_LEN(early alloc) instead of FULL MALLOC (mem_malloc_init is not called at all) - Simplify malloc and stack init. * Kbuild: introduce Makefile in arch/$ARCH/Daniel Schwierzeck2014-12-08-0/+8
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Introduce a Makefile under arch/$ARCH/ and include it in the top Makefile (similar to Linux kernel). This allows further refactoringi like moving architecture-specific code out of global makefiles, deprecating config variables (CPU, CPUDIR, SOC) or deprecating arch/$ARCH/config.mk. In contrary to Linux kernel, U-Boot defines the ARCH variable by Kconfig, thus the arch Makefile can only included conditionally after the top config.mk. * kconfig: remove redundant "string" type in arch and board KconfigsMasahiro Yamada2014-09-13-1/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now the types of CONFIG_SYS_{ARCH, CPU, SOC, VENDOR, BOARD, CONFIG_NAME} are specified in arch/Kconfig. We can delete the ones in arch and board Kconfig files. This commit can be easily reproduced by the following command: find . -name Kconfig -a ! -path ./arch/Kconfig | xargs sed -i -e ' /config[[:space:]]SYS_\(ARCH\|CPU\|SOC\|\VENDOR\|BOARD\|CONFIG_NAME\)/ { N s/\n[[:space:]]*string// } ' Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
* microblaze: Fix printf size_t format related warnings (again...)Vasili Galka2014-09-09-0/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | The basic idea: Define size_t using the __SIZE_TYPE__ compiler-defined type. For detailed explanation see similar patch for the nios2 arch: "nios2: Fix printf size_t format related warnings (again...)" * kconfig: add board Kconfig and defconfig filesMasahiro Yamada2014-07-30-0/+18
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit adds: - arch/${ARCH}/Kconfig provide a menu to select target boards - board/${VENDOR}/${BOARD}/Kconfig or board/${BOARD}/Kconfig set CONFIG macros to the appropriate values for each board - configs/${TARGET_BOARD}_defconfig default setting of each board (This commit was automatically generated by a conversion script based on boards.cfg) In Linux Kernel, defconfig files are located under arch/${ARCH}/configs/ directory. It works in Linux Kernel since ARCH is always given from the command line for cross compile. But in U-Boot, ARCH is not given from the command line. Which means we cannot know ARCH until the board configuration is done. That is why all the "*_defconfig" files should be gathered into a single directory ./configs/. * Makefile: Support include files for .dts filesSimon Glass2014-06-20-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | Linux supports this, and if we are to have compatible device tree files, U-Boot should also. Avoid giving the device tree files access to U-Boot's include/ directory. * fdt_support: delete force argument of fdt_initrd()Masahiro Yamada2014-06-19-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | After all, we have realized "force" argument is completely useless. fdt_initrd() was always called with force = 1. We should always want to do the same thing (set appropriate value to the property) even if the property already exists. * bd_info: remove bi_barudrate member from struct bd_infoMasahiro Yamada2014-05-12-2/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | gd->bd->bi_baudrate is a copy of gd->baudrate. Since baudrate is a common feature for all architectures, keep gd->baudrate only. It is true that bi_baudrate was passed to the kernel in that structure but it was a long time ago. * kbuild: fix CROSS_COMPILE settings in config.mkMasahiro Yamada2014-03-04-1/+3
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The syntax CROSS_COMIPLE ?= <cross_compiler_prefix> does not work because config.mk is parsed after exporting CROSS_COMPILE. Like Linux Kernel's arch/$(ARCH)/Makefile, we must write as follows: ifeq ($(CROSS_COMPILE),) CROSS_COMPILE := <cross_compiler_prefix> endif Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
* dts: generate multiple device tree blobsMasahiro Yamada2014-02-19-0/+12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | It is convenient to have all device trees on the same SoC compiled. It allows for later easy repackaging without the need to re-run the make file. - Build device trees with the same SoC under arch/$(ARCH)/dts - Copy the one specified by CONFIG_DEFAULT_DEVICE_TREE or DEVICE_TREE=... to dts/dt.dtb Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
* dts: move device tree sources to arch/$(ARCH)/dts/Masahiro Yamada2014-02-19-0/+7
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Unlike Linux Kernel, U-Boot historically had *.dts files under board/$(VENDOR)/dts/ and *.dtsi files under arch/$(ARCH)/dts/. I think arch/$(ARCH)/dts dicretory is a better location to store both *.dts and *.dtsi files. For example, before this commit, board/xilinx/dts directory had both Microblaze dts (microblaze-generic.dts) and ARM dts (zynq-*.dts), which are totally unrelated. This commit moves *.dts to arch/$(ARCH)/dts/ directories, allowing us to describe nicely mutiple DTBs generation in the next commit. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>
* dts: re-write dts/Makefile more simply with KbuildMasahiro Yamada2014-02-19-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Useful rules in scripts/Makefile.lib allows us to easily generate a device tree blob and wrap it in assembly code. We do not need to parse a linker script to get output format and arch. This commit deletes ./u-boot.dtb since it is a copy of dts/dt.dtb. Signed-off-by: Masahiro Yamada <yamada.m@jp.panasonic.com>

| | | | | | | | | | | | Commit 35fc84fa1ff51e15ecd3e464dac87eb105ffed30 broke bootm on avr32. It requires to call do_bootm_linux() with flag set to BOOTM_STATE_OS_PREP before calling it again with flag set to BOOTM_STATE_OS_GO. Fix this by allowing flag set to BOOTM_STATE_OS_PREP, this however will require a complete refactoring later on. * Clarify bootm OS argumentsSimon Glass2013-06-26-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | At present the arguments to bootm are processed in a somewhat confusing way. Sub-functions must know how many arguments their calling functions have processed, and the OS boot function must also have this information. Also it isn't obvious that 'bootm' and 'bootm start' provide arguments in the same way. Adjust the code so that arguments are removed from the list before calling a sub-function. This means that all functions can know that argv[0] is the first argument of which they need to take notice. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
