* arm: Remove OMAP2420H4 and all omap24xx supportTom Rini2013-06-10-18/+0
| | | | | | | | | The omap2420H4 was the only mainline omap24xx board. Prior to being fixed by Jon Hunter in time for v2013.04 it had been functionally broken for a very long time. Remove this board as there's not been interest in it in U-Boot for quite a long time. Signed-off-by: Tom Rini <trini@ti.com>
* arm: factorize relocate_code routineAlbert ARIBAUD2013-05-30-76/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | Replace all relocate_code routines from ARM start.S files with a single instance in file arch/arm/lib/relocate.S. For PXA, this requires moving the dcache unlocking code from within relocate_code into c_runtime_cpu_setup. * BUGFIX: arm: data abort in get_bad_stack_swiTetsuyuki Kobayashi2013-04-13-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | When swi instruction is executed, it is expected to get message "software interrupt" in console and dump registers and reboot, as do_software_interrupt() in arch/arm/lib/interrupts.c. But, actually it causes data abort accessing wrong address in get_bad_stack_swi macro in arch/arm/cpu/v7/start.S. This patch fixes this problem. The same mistake in arch/arm/cpu/{arm1136,arm1176,pxa}/start.S. Signed-off-by: Tetsuyuki Kobayashi <koba@kmckk.co.jp>
* arm: Remove unused relocate_code() parametersBenoît Thébaudeau2013-04-12-4/+2
| | | | | | | | Commit e05e5de7fae5bec79617e113916dac6631251156 made the 2 1st parameters of ARM's relocate_code() useless since it moved the code handling them to crt0.S. So, drop these parameters. Signed-off-by: Benoît Thébaudeau <benoit.thebaudeau@advansee.com>
* arm: relocate_code(): Use __image_copy_end for end of relocationBenoît Thébaudeau2013-04-12-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | Use __image_copy_end instead of __bss_start for the end of the image to relocate. This is the same as commit 033ca72, but applied to all ARM start.S. This is a more appropriate symbol naming for an image copy & relocate feature, and this also saves a useless copy of data put between __image_copy_end and __bss_start in linker scripts (e.g. relocation information, or MMU initialization tables used only before jumping to the relocated image). | | | | | | | | | | Commit e05e5de7fae5bec79617e113916dac6631251156 made ARM's relocate_code() return to its caller, but it did not update its declaration accordingly. * Replace __bss_end__ with __bss_endSimon Glass2013-03-15-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Note this is a tree-wide change affecting multiple architectures. At present we use __bss_start, but mostly __bss_end__. This seems inconsistent and in a number of places __bss_end is used instead. Change to use __bss_end for the BSS end symbol throughout U-Boot. This makes it possible to use the asm-generic/sections.h file on all archs. Signed-off-by: Simon Glass <sjg@chromium.org>
* arm: move C runtime setup code in crt0.SAlbert ARIBAUD2013-01-08-57/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Move all the C runtime setup code from every start.S in arch/arm into arch/arm/lib/crt0.S. This covers the code sequence from setting up the initial stack to calling into board_init_r(). Also, rewrite the C runtime setup and make functions board_init_*() and relocate_code() behave according to normal C semantics (no jumping across the C stack any more, etc). Some SPL targets had to be touched because they use start.S explicitly or for some reason; the relevant maintainers and custodians are cc:ed. Signed-off-by: Albert ARIBAUD <albert.u.boot@aribaud.net>

* arm: fixloop(): do not use r8 for relocationAndreas Bießmann2010-12-09-3/+3
| | | | | | | | | r8 is used for global_data and should therefore be left alone! For C code the compiler flag --fixed-r8 does the job, but in assembler we need to be aware of that fact. Signed-off-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.com>
* arm: relocate_code(): do not set register uselessAndreas Bießmann2010-12-09-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | In case we are still at relocation target address before relocation we do not need to load the registers needed for relocation. We should instead skip the whole relocation part and jump over to clear_bss immediately. Signed-off-by: Andreas Bießmann <andreas.devel@googlemail.com>
* arm: copy_loop(): use scratch registerAndreas Bießmann2010-12-09-5/+5
| | | | | | | | | This patch uses r1 as scratch register for copy_loop(). Therefore we do not longer need r7 for the storage of relocate_code()'s 'addr_moni' (the destination address of relocation). * Drop support for CONFIG_SKIP_RELOCATE_UBOOTWolfgang Denk2010-10-29-4/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For ARM systems, before ELF relocation was introduced, CONFIG_SKIP_RELOCATE_UBOOT coul be used to prevent *COPYING* the U-Boot image from whereever it was loaded to it's link address (CONFIG_SYS_TEXT_BASE). The name was badly chosen, as no relocation was performed at all, it was just a memcpy(). With ELF relocation, this does not work like that any more, and related boards need to be fixed anyway. So don't keep this relict any longer. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Tested-by: Heiko Schocher <hs@denx.de> Tested-by: Reinhard Meyer <u-boot@emk-elektronik.de>
* Drop support for CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOCWolfgang Denk2010-10-29-127/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When this define was introduced, the idea was to provide a soft migration path for ARM boards to get adapted to the new relocation support. However, other recent changes led to a different implementation (ELF relocation), where this no longer works. By now CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC does not only not help any more, but it actually hurts because it obfuscates the actual code by sprinkling it with lots of dead and non-working debris. So let's make a clean cut and drop CONFIG_SYS_ARM_WITHOUT_RELOC. Signed-off-by: Wolfgang Denk <wd@denx.de> Tested-by: Heiko Schocher <hs@denx.de> Tested-by: Reinhard Meyer <u-boot@emk-elektronik.de>

* Replace CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE by auto-generated valueWolfgang Denk2010-10-26-4/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE has always been just a bad workarond for not being able to use "sizeof(struct global_data)" in assembler files. Recent experience has shown that manual synchronization is not reliable enough. This patch renames CONFIG_SYS_GBL_DATA_SIZE into GENERATED_GBL_DATA_SIZE which gets automatically generated by the asm-offsets tool. In the result, all definitions of this value can be deleted from the board config files. We have to make sure that all files that reference such data include the new <asm-offsets.h> file. No other changes have been done yet, but it is obvious that similar changes / simplifications can be done for other, related macro definitions as well. * ARM: Align stack to 8 bytesVitaly Kuzmichev2010-06-22-0/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | The ARM ABI requires that the stack be aligned to 8 bytes as it is noted in Procedure Call Standard for the ARM Architecture: http://infocenter.arm.com/help/topic/com.arm.doc.ihi0042d/index.html Unaligned SP also causes the problem with variable-length arrays allocation when VLA address becomes less than stack pointer during aligning of this address, so the next 'push' in the stack overwrites first 4 bytes of VLA. * ARM1136: Fix cache_flush() error and correct cpu_init_crit() commentsGeorge G. Davis2010-06-01-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The ARM1136 cache_flush() function uses the "mcr p15, 0, rn, c7, c7, 0" instruction which means "Invalidate Both Caches" when in fact the intent is to clean and invalidate all caches. So add an "mcr p15, 0, %0, c7, c10, 0" instruction to "Clean Entire Data Cache" prior to the "Invalidate Both Caches" instruction to insure that memory is consistent with any dirty cache lines. Also fix a couple of "flush v*" comments in ARM1136 cpu_init_crit() so that they correctly describe the actual ARM1136 CP15 C7 Cache Operations used. Signed-off-by: George G.
